English Day 2013-14

English Day 2013-14

Part 1: Photography workshop

As part of the English Day, we decided to do a photography workshop entirely in English for students of ESO. Joan Sèculi, our teacher, spent a full day with each class to explain the secrets of the digital cameras: exposure and light are the most important things when taking pictures, however, aperture, shutter, white balance and ISO are also important.

Composition is one of the keys to taking a great photo, we must think about the rule of thirds, balancing elements, leading lines, symmetry, patterns, viewpoints, backgrounds, framing and cropping. Although the more you take photos the more you improve your skills, therefore experimenting is also good to improve your images.

At the end of the workshop, students spent some time in the beach taking pictures around the Petrol Bridge as part of a photography competition; here you can see the winners and the finalists of 4th ESO. All the teachers were really impressed with the results and we would like to congratulate all photographers.

Part 2: Beach Rugby

After a theory class on the rules, objectives and values of rugby, the students had a chance to show what they were made of on the beach. Many of them overcame their fears and rose to challenge.

The day wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Badalona Rugby Club and in particular Xavier Oncins (Ferran’s dad!). Jordi Aspa, Gerard Cunill and Simon Ferguson (our teachers) were very proud to see them, playing very well considering the lack of time they were given to train
