The Irish Day – March 2017

On the 3rd of April ESO celebrated their annual English Speaking event. This year it was Irish Day. It was a great opportunity for the students to learn about Ireland and the Irish. We were fortunate enough to have not just one but two Irish speakers this year; Dermot Flynn from Dublin, the capital of the Republic of Ireland and David White from Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland. Both talks were equally interesting and gave an insight into how they perceive Ireland.

Other activities included on the day were a webquest which provided more depth into the history of Ireland, a film called Sing Street which gave us the opportunity to talk about bullying and how to deal with it and a special art class that Dermot gave to 1st and 2nd of ESO.

All in all, a very productive day.
